Before you learn how to animate, you will need to learn the primary drawing tool:
You will need to select it from the toolbar, if you don't see the toolbar go under the "window" tab, and select it
The toolbar will then show up
Select the brush tool from your toolbar
Now to change the properties of the brush, you will need to go into the properties tab
If you don't see the properties tab, go into the "window" tab, and select "properties"
The properties will then show up
First, you'll want to enable pen pressure
This ensures that there is line variation in the brush strokes

Size: Lets you adjust the size of the brush strokes
Use the slider or manually enter a pixel value to adjust brush size

Smoothing: Adjusts the stabilization of the brush strokes
Use the slider or manually enter a numerical value to adjust smoothing strength

Low value smoothing creates a more rough, natural look
Medium value smoothing creates a more even, cleaner look
High value smoothing ideally creates the cleanest looking lines, but when too strong the lines can become messy and uneven

Explore different combination of settings that create a brush that you find most appealing and intuitive to use
Personal recommendation is size 16px and 20 smoothing
Now you can finally draw a stick figure! It may seem simple, but drawing a stick figure is an important first step to your animation journey
You need to learn how to use the basics of drawing in Animate before you can even think about making your drawings move. Otherwise, you'll struggle with drawing a single frame of an animation, let alone a full shot or film.
